Cricut Warp not working? The fixes, in order
Warp missing from the toolbar, greyed out, or cutting in a straight line: a checklist that resolves each case, plus a no-Warp alternative.
Work through these in order. Most people are done by step 3.
1. Warp is missing from the toolbar
- Design Space is out of date. Warp needs Desktop v7.31, iOS v5.30 or Android v5.25 or later. Update and reopen the project.
- You are looking in the wrong place on mobile. On a phone or tablet, Warp is under Actions → Warp, not in the top toolbar.
2. Warp is greyed out
- The selection includes a multi-layer font. Warp does not work on those yet; switch to a single-layer font.
- The selection includes a printable image (Print Then Cut). Those cannot be warped at all.
- You can preview Warp without a subscription, but making a project with it needs Cricut Access.
3. The preview bends but the cut is straight
This is the report that fills the Cricut forums. Try, in this order:
- Update Design Space, reopen the project and Make It again.
- Click Undo Warp, apply the style again, then Make It.
- Duplicate the layer, delete the original, re-apply the warp.
If none of that works, the dependable route is to skip Design Space’s Warp and upload an SVG that is already curved. Design Space cannot mis-cut what it never had to compute.
4. Letters cut separately or the counters fall out
Weld and Slice are not available on a warped object, so the usual fix is greyed out. Cricut’s answer is the Combine menu: select the warped layer with the shapes to join and use Combine → Unite (or Combine → Subtract in place of Slice). The cut comes out like a Weld and the objects stay editable. If the middle of your O or A disappears in an uploaded file, it was saved with the wrong fill rule; export again with the tool below, which writes an even-odd path so counters survive.
Make the curved text outside Design Space
Type your word below, pick Arc or Arch, and download the SVG. It contains a single outlined path, no text element, no transform, and a width in inches. Upload it in Design Space and it arrives at the right size, ready to cut.
